Bonnie Mettling's 6th grade classroom enjoys a visit from a Civil War Reenactor each year Thanks to a grant from the foundation.
Sgt Daryl Duden  shares stories and history with students who are learning about Minnesota History.
Mr. Osby has headed up plans for the second grade field trip to the Minnesota Zoo for a number of years. Every student was bussed up to Apple Valley to spend the day learning about our lovely zoo, attending a bird show, taking a monorail ride, and enjoy lunch outdoors at the zoo. For many of our students, this is their only opportunity to visit the zoo.

Staff reports that they are able to incorporate Minnesota State Science standards into a curriculum that supports this zoo experience.
The kindergarten teachers at Sunnyside asked for colorful educational seating for their classrooms. These bright welcoming area rugs allow teachers to transition into activities by asking students to find a color or shape, and take a seat to begin an activity. The foundation paid for two rugs this year, but the other classrooms are hoping to get one next year!
